This is my shot at returning to my blog.

Recently I have made a list of things I have said I was going to commit to and well... you know the rest.

I would like to work out/take care of my body for ME not for anyone else. I would also like to return to school for... something. (Any ideas out there?)
Those are my two main commitments to be committed to.

Lately I have found that I am constantly reading architecture and interior design magazines/blogs not to mention how often my room (since I share an apartment and can only control my side) has been completely redone over the years. I also have an obsession with wedding planning- not planning for me but rather people that I pretend have hired me to plan theirs. Yes, it is silly but I absolutely adore all things wedding related.

So maybe these are areas of work I should look into learning more about.

Closets{and what to do with yours.}

EDIT: Donate what you haven't worn in a year (or bring it to Plato's for extra cash) as well as anything that no longer fits. If it's seriously out of shape or completely un-fixable, toss it.
STORE IT: Pull out your "out of season" pieces and "one-timers" to the side to stow away elsewhere.
ORGANIZE: By type and color. Ex. Sleeve length, shade of color..
HANG IT: Pick out one type of hanger; wood, wire or plastic. This will help eliminate added chaos to your closet. (I have all plastic, wood is great but too pricey.)
ZONE IT: If you have a wide selection of skirts and trousers, try different level rods. Low rod for bottoms and a high rod for blouses and dresses. High shelves work wonderfully for out-of-season shoes and sweaters.
FOLD IT: Anything prone to stretching should be folded properly (eliminating wrinkles before the next wear.) Remember heavier items on the bottoms and lighter on top. Make sure to keep your garments in order; whites to nudes to black, workout tops to business tops, etc. If your closet does not have shelves try using hanging canvas shelves or Rubbermaid storage bins with drawers.
Manage: Make sure your accessories such as; belts, bags and scarves in plain sight on hooks or racks that can be attached to the inside of your closet door or wall.
Contain: This is the fun part. Everything from socks to lingerie (anything that cant hang or fold) needs to be put in a container. Try using a set of baskets or smaller boxes covered in a patterned paper. (There are so many great ideas that can be done on a low budget.)
SHOES: Pick a system that will work for you. Choose between a shoe rack on the floor, a hanging show organizer, see-through plastic boxes, or your original shoe boxes with photos of the shoe glued to them. Stow away the unused on a high shelf or in a container under a bed.

This is my plan for my closet sometime this week.
I have a very nicely sized walk-in in my room and
I am dying to be able to navigate through it without
impaling my heel on a heel or ripping through piles
of intertwined leggings and belts. We shall see
how it goes. Hopefully I will remember to take
before and afters to share it all with you.
You should try it too! Have fun with it!

I wanted to take a day to post about some "on-goings" in my life lately. Last Wednesday at church Pastor Chris talked about your finances and how to live with margin. Lately i have been spending every last cent of my paycheck. Well, I pretty much always have and could- I'm still very young, only been out on my own now for a year and I don't have a whole lot to pay for. Rent, Utilities and my Mac. Those are my bills. However, lately i have noticed the cost of (my) living is on the rise. (ha- no joke.) I have a gym membership, tanning package, I have a thing for fancy grocery stores and I cant seem to wear the same thing twice. So I have made a vow, from here on out, i will start living with some margin in my life. Think about it, i will actually be able to save up for those wonderful Anthropologie goodies I love instead of buying cheap clothes in BULK! Rent is due thursday... in 2 weeks I will be able to start organizing, saving and not spending!

to $150 in the esty shop, which is not bad for lighting

Haircut {Your thoughts}

{please know i am not wanting a straight bang, just a heavier one.
I have tried that before and was a mess.}

{This is what I am leaning towards being that my hair does have quite a bit of body
and doesn't stay perfectly straight like Alba's- shown at the top.}

It's getting chilly outside and that means
coats and scarves are in the near future.
My hair has grown out pretty long
(longer than it has been since 8th grade)
and does not look so hott sticking straight out of a coat
nor do I look good as a lion with a scarf tied around my mane.
So this calls for a haircut.
A good medium length bob with a heavier, shorter bang.

Ah... At last, the painting is complete!

This weekend I finished painting my bed and dresser and OH the difference it has made. (Keep in mind my dresser was white with a dark brown stain coating and my bed a "rickrack red"- or as it turned out, a more-so hot pink.)
For my dresser i chose Neutral Grey by Ralph Lauren and my bed, Marble by Ralph Lauren.
It looks very clean and polished. I would post pictures but I am still lacking in appropriate bedding and decor.
However, my window panels from Ikea are to be hung soon thanks to Rachel from the Meet the J.Rays.

I would love to find some cool lighting for my room for as of now i am
working with only one lamp that sits on my dresser.

Any suggestions?

As I had previously posted, I made my first purchase from Ruche after my friend Rachel showed me this. After receiving the conformation email I received a second one apologizing that they had just sold out of the necklace and that i would be credited my money back. I actually bought The Weekend-er from Old Navy about 2 weeks ago for $19. They happened to be running a special on them so Mom and i snatched them up! I am not a fan of Old Navy's jeans normally but since this fit is naturally imperfect it was a great compromise, not to mention how comfortable they are!

Boot #1 is a Frye boot called the "Cameron" for $348.00
Boot #2 is from Rack Room Shoes for $44.99.

Now... I know boot #2 is not real leather nor will it feel as wonderful as the Frye but for the price this is definitely a great look-a-like.

So recently i have been adding items to my collection of goodies for my room makeover. That has been really fun. I normally splurge on clothes and clothes only, but finding stuff for my room to make it more comfortable and chic is quite satisfying.
Last Sunday night i was having one of those "for absolutely no reason" meltdowns trying to get ready for church. I had "nothing to wear." (I have everything imaginable but just not that night.) I pulled out my MacBook and opened up iTunes to a random playlist while i got ready.

And if you saw me Sunday night, No- I did not listen to Garth Brooks. Yes, i did wear cowboy boots but if you know me well, you know that i am quite the boot-a-holic. My song for the night? Icky Thump by The White Stripes.

This weekend i help Ryan and his brother Chase move into their new birmingham apartment. Up until now they have lived in a shabby 1 bdrm apt. (chase actually slept in the dining room.) Now they live in a very nice 2 bdrm luxury apt. (which i am almost jealous of.) The move was fun. Somehow it's always more fun helping a friend move than having friends help move you. Maybe its because there is no stress because YOUR things arent getting broken or YOUR pots and pans wont fit in the small cabinet space. Anywho- i am tired from it all. The place looks great though and i cant wait for their LSU game parties to begin - i could really use an excuse to make chips and salsa...

So for whatever reason my money and bills havent been adding up. (i wonder why you shoppaholic.)

This is my first money mishap. (no its not.)

Well its my first real one.

... and i panicked.

Thanks to mom and my good buddy Ryan i have not only my sanity back but a budget plan.

i'm not thrilled about not getting to (get mani's and pedi's, or a new dress or a needed pair of boots for the winter) spend extra money... but ill make it.

On a lighter note-

my ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND kings of leon IS PLAYING IN NASHVILLE october 16th.

and i am going.

That, my friends, is better than anything in this world. (besides new boots, cocktail dresses, and getting to afford a mani and pedi at the same time.)

anywho... the countdown has started.

Speaking of cowntdowns, LSUUUUU will be kicking off in about 3 weeks. Which im happy about because i am a huge fan. (i am a fan, but im a bigger fan of finding excuses to have parties.)

Bayou Bound

This past weekend my friend Steph and i took a road trip to Baton Rouge to see her man and my really cool friend Ryan.

Got to meet some more of Ryan's HILARIOUS family. They are so precious and so funny. I feel like I've known them my whole life.

Friday night we had dinner with Ryan's mom and dad at this little Italian restaurant. All three of them just got new iPhones and were trying to teach Mr. Edwards how to use iTunes.

After that we met up with his two brothers, Brett and Chase, and Chase's sweet friend Rachel.

We went to a really cool little venue to see a cover band who played a little of everything including; Kings of Leon, Usher and ZZ Top. They were actually pretty good and entertaining.

Saturday we had Lunch with the family at Albasha's - my absolute favorite greek and lebanese restaurant. Later that day Ryan and I moseyed around Baton Rouge, had dinner and made a "must" trip to Counter Culture. If you are not familiar with this place, make yourself familiar with it, and when you do, order the HUMPHREY YOGART. Its plain frozen yogurt with granola, grapes, bananas and honey drizzled on top. Absolutely wonderful.

That night i got to meet his grandparents and aunts and uncles. They are all HOOTS. Such a fun family.

Sunday Ryan and I picked up some lunch from Raisin' Canes and did a little shopping at the Louisiana Mall. Ryan bought his FIRST wallet. After having to get 3 new licenses within the time that we've started hanging out, it was much needed.

Steph and I left around 3 that day and had a good ride back.

Now I'm back at work.

Had fun doing a little shopping today with Debbie and my mom.

At Home in Homewood is dangerous for me. I did make a purchase but stayed under $20.

My "post-shop" recovery has been slow but I am getting much better.

I know, I know... It's been a while.

Just when i feel like my life (all 20 whopping years) has come to an odd dead end as far as just not knowing what to do next or what God has planned for that time, He sends something.

Every time.

This time it's not something for sure, but its definitely an exciting ride i'm on.

I'm enjoying this age. The uncertainty, the lack of responsibilities a real grown up has, never knowing what the next day holds...

This has also been a time of learning how important family really is and who my true friends are.

I'm learning who I am and what things I enjoy on my own. Something I've never really taken the time to do.

Lately I have been taking a book down to the pool and just reading for hours. Dad gave me 2 books from his new favorite author. (they are really good so far by the way... you should check him out: Charles Martin)

Mom and I have been hanging out a lot too, as always.

She makes me laugh and see things more clearly- sometimes. LOL.

Steph and I are taking a road trip down to Baton Rouge to see her man and my really cool friend Ryan.

It should be a good trip.

Today i became a Notary.

Technically i became one several weeks ago when the NSA Premium Package arrived at work.

I spent 2 weeks taking a 1hr course, which i took 21 times before i called and asked what i was taking it for.

Come to find out... your score counts for nothing.

NOTHING.

I WASTED WEEKS feeling like a complete imbecile.

My stamper is in the mail along with my insurance bond. (whatever that is.)

I'm thinking about stamping my arm over and over with it,

being that it may be the ONLY thing i ever sign and stamp.

Tomorrow Hannah and I leave for Houma, La.

We will be going to the river with some of our closest friends for the Cuarto de Julio.

It should be quite the experience.

I apologize for not posting sooner.

As some of you know, my birthday was on the 20th.

That morning i woke up.

Packed my pool bag.

Headed to get some sun.

Soon after my good friend Guy called saying he'd be on his way with some grub and drinks.

Ryan "Tank" arrived after that but ran into the pool-side gym for a 20min workout in attempt to look twice his size for the pool.

Then Michael with his very mirror-like aviators which were perfect for checking my hair.

Callie who is literally the most beautiful person ive ever known.

Bryce came ready to eat everything.

Robbie M. my 15 yr old "daughter" who came with the best present in the world. (a light up glitter filled bouncy ball-nothing better)

Charley who came fully dressed/showered (very sweet of him, except it was a pool party.)

Chase came already laughing and ready to have a good time.

Hannah ACTUALLY GOT IN THE POOL IN A BIKINI! (applaud.)

BBQ, Strawberry cake, Cherry Limeade, Tanning oil, SUNNBLOOCKKK....

It was a perfect sunny day for being at the pool with the greatest friends in the world.

That night we all went to City Stages. (well, we all met up there.)

I dont even think we knew who was playing being that we had stayed at the pool too long missing anyone we had planned to see.

We bought tickets from a really cool "naw-i-aint-a-bum-these-iz-real-tickets" guy. He informed us that "I got cheerinz, and i aint want nobody to do them wrong." So we bout 5 tickets for $20 instead of $28. WOO. ....and they worked!

Pretty good bands played.

The atmosphere was pleasant.

Got to see my good friend Zac.

Got to use a port-a-potty.

We found Zydeco's dance floor, which was like being in Baton Rouge at thanksgiving with my family.

Danced until we could barely move.

Laughed until we couldn't breathe.

No Doubt

This past friday Hannah, Ryan and i drove to Atlanta to see No Doubt and Paramore play. It was a great drive. Fun getting to hang out, listen to good (and not so good) music. For dinner hannah and i had Starbucks and Happy Meals. We stopped at the mall there in atlanta to try and find and atm and a bathroom. During our stop there we found a pet store. Hannah and i have been dying to get a teeny dog for our apartment being that we are both single, she is home alone for most of the day, and i want something to squeal over. As soon as we walked into the store, one of the workers plops a baby pomeranian in my arms. PURE LOVE. Who knew something so annoying and furry and orange would make me melt. I have to have one. my birthday is in less than two weeks and i am taking donations for the "pom fund."

Later on we finally made it to the concert. Traffic had been awful, but my gosh ive never been to such a fun show in my entire life... and believe me, hannah and i have had our fair share.

Ryan just stared at the stage the whole time and played bodyguard to us two screaming jumping maniacs.

it was waffle house for a midnight snack (meal) on the way home.

She drives like a 16 year old on their first drive alone trying to look in the rear view mirror to put on sparkly pink lip gloss while dancing to Top 20 marathon on the local pop station.

Which is too much fun and led to some unintentional mini off-roading experiences.

We split my favorite strawberry cake from Newk's which i somehow was allowed to treat her to.

It was one of those days ill remember forever.

After work i decided (well i had actually decided when i woke up) that i would be headed to the pool.

Hannah agreed to go but warned me she would be fully dressed.

About midway into my chilly swim it started to sprinkle, which immediately made her disappear (i assumed back to the apt.)

Shortly after her going m.i.a. she returned... still fully dressed, holding a extra large golfing umbrella in one hand and a cup of tea in the other.

This is my best friend and roommate, Hannah.

She couldn't have been anymore prepared and i couldn't have laughed any harder.

That night we planned a spontaneous dinner which consisted of Moe's, Zaxby's, and the three of us repeating lines from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Afterwards we took a quick trip to WalMart to load up on (cheaper) candy to "sneak" into the theatre. (c'mon... they know whats in that XXL purse you DONT need to watch a movie.)

Up in 3-D.

Absolutely adorable.

I was crying in the first five min.

.....and falling asleep the next... (this is a given and was totally expected.)

My friends are aware that anytime we watch something- movie/tv- whatever.. after dark: im out, and then i become a living table for friench fries, cell phones, cokes, pizza...

We have pictures to prove it.

Anyway back to the movie.

We loved our 3D glasses and decided not to put them back in the recycle can outside the doors but to keep them for a better time and place.

The beach was wonderful.

i used 50 spf the entire time and still turned into an african american.

i did, unfortunately, forget to apply sunblock on my lips.

let me rephrase that...

i refuse to rub that stuff on my lips.

so it burnt. and burnt badly.

as if someone held a magnifying glass with the sun pointed to my lip just to see what would happen.

the result?

a hole. a blistering hole.

it makes me drool.

and i smile like i have no feeling in my lower jaw.

"how do you eat?"

well, i eat like a walrus with my head straight up in the air.

Thank you God for creating Burt who made "Burts Bees: Res-Q-Lip Balm." (i just wish he wouldnt have made it pine flavored.)

Things that jabbed at me today:

1. Watching my perfectly shaped tortilla chip break in half and slowly sink to the bottom of the queso bowl.

2. "Yes, ill have the chicken chimichanga a la carte." ...and the waiter responds with, "Do you want the rice and beans?" (A. LA. CARTE.)

This was all fixed when he only charged me $1.18 for my queso which is normally $7.

Also, the forecast for the week is "Scattered T-Storms." Its been raining for a month and i am going to the beach.

On a lighter note.

It is Friday.

And i am going to the beach with my bestie rain or shine.

things that are only good the first time:

1. clean sheets: downy only lasts one wear.

2. french fries: mc donalds fries for example, best things in the world. wait 2 min and they are ruined. remember- fries before burger.

3. napkins: its not rocket science. yes i do use 5 napkins at every meal.

4. fried mozzarella sticks- heres the problem, the temperature of these sticks are lethal when they are given to you, so you have to "wait for them to cool off" or risk permanently loosing important taste buds, but you always wait too long. what can we learn from this? dont order them. they are full of greasy calories and they are too complicated.

5. snow cones: once they melt you can freeze them again, however... it turns into a popsicle of sorts which was not what you initially wanted. just throw it away.

6. towels: they usually are still slightly damp the next morning, or at least mine are because i prefer leave my towels on the floor.

7. pasta dishes: no matter where you order a pasta dish you will be given enough to feed a small whale. "Can a get a to-go box?" NO. dont ask for the box. leave it. it will never be the same.

8. driving to the beach: then you realize you have to drive back 5 hrs in a small vehicle with 3 other people with a seatbelt slicing into your over cooked body listening to what the driver wants to listen to... which in my case is mom and she wants to listen to a 1 of 3 people- daniel powder, gavin degraw, or really old john mayer.

So i havent really taken a liking to blogging regularly.

Everyday i think about a kind of blog i would like to have.. and i try but i fail.

I love twoellie for all of its beautiful decor/remodeling ideas and its occasional "outfit to room" posts and pics of her beautiful children, but i neither have children or an eye for coordinating decor.

i adore my roomate's blog simply because i can hear her talking as i read which makes me laugh hysterically but i probably wont ever see Wicked again (two times was enough, great show, but enough.) i dont enjoy dairy in my teas, and lack in her exquisite skills in writing.

Being that i do work for a church planting organization i tried doing the whole pastoral posts but i am not a pastor, PK, church planter or anything of the sort, therefore this was too a failed attempt in finding my nitch.

But ive decided what i want this whole blog thing to be like... and that is, exactly what it was designed for.

To post about ones feelings, emotions, life, pictures and silly thoughts.

WARNING:

i will post about almost everything i think about.

this could be good and bad.

i do not mean to be offensive or to be taken seriously all the time.

these are my THOUGHTS.

So as most of you know Hannah and I recently moved into our new apartment.

It's perfect.

In fact its more than perfect.

My favorite thing about it?

Our pale blue table and the huge window that sits behind it.

The past week and a half has been rainy and overcast.

As much as i am dying to see the sun and head to the pool,

I must say I've enjoyed watching the dreary weather from the table.

We cook more now.

We actually cook a lot now.

Granted, the only thing we cook is rotini with ragu and the occasional sautéed chicken breast,

but dinner is dinner

Hannah and i hosted our first party in apt 131 last week. Cinco de Mayo.

Our guests wore stick-on quito stashes while enjoying our american-made mexi cuisine and virgin margaritas.

Our second party will be this friday.

A much needed Girls Night.

Cupcakes, pillows and gossip. (all good of course.)

Anywho.

Please forgive me for not posting sooner.

a new season, a new beginning...

So yesterday was the first "hot" day of the year.

This is my absolute favorite season.

Summer is a sort of a medicine for me.

I don't know if its the sun, the pools or the beaches,

But It's definitely something I always look forward too.

It also marks the beginning of a new season of life for me...

Its almost been a complete year since my life took a huge turn.

I had many ups and downs. Endured a lot of pain and agony.

But I'm very happy to say that I've been completely set free.

And I thank God everyday for all of the wonderful (and painful)

things I've learned in the past year or so.

I don't think it's by any coincidence that all of it happened.

It was a test.

I know God has huge plans for life and I want to be ready for anything.

I have completely surrendered my life to Him.

I can truly say this is the happiest I have ever been in my life.

It took a lot for me to get it and understand why we have to trust Him,

But It's been the best decision I've ever made...

I want to thank all of my friends who stood by my side during it all- especially Hannah (my roommate and best friend) and Stephanie (my "sister"), my beautiful cousin Sarah, my parents (David and Trudy Bezet) for loving me unconditionally, Billy and Charlene Hornsby (my grandparents) for being a HUGE influence in my life, and my Lord and Savior...

I recently started reading a new book. (Love the Life You Live by Les Parrott, Ph. D. and Neil Clark Warren, Ph. D.)

Another informative.

The only kind I really enjoy reading.

There are two types of people in this world, the wise and the selfish.

James 3:13-17 says it like this:

"13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. ¹⁴But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. ¹⁵Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. ¹⁶For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.¹⁷But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Are your words producing fruit? Are you contributing to peoples lives in a positive way?

So many are quick to speak about their thoughts and their opinions, cutting down so many others over and over again.

These people my seem intelligent and "wise", but as it says in james 3:14, "..such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, and of the devil."

Wisdom from heaven is pure, peaceful, loving, submissive..

Earthly "wisdom" finds disorder, is envious, and is concerned with self ambition..

1. Take a moment and examine yourself.

2. What do you spend most of your time doing/thinking?

3. What are you most concerned with?

4. Are you helping others or are you confusing them?

Choose your words wisely. Speak softly.
